Get In Touch

Day 4

This was not my first mission trip, however, this was my first out of country mission trip. I love missionary work because God presents me with the opportunity to spread his word and his everlasting love. This specific mission trip is very special to me because not only do I get the opportunity to share my love of God, but also my love and passion for the game of soccer.

Today is our last day in Guatemala City working alongside some of the most special people I have come to know and love. This morning consisted of loving on the children of the AMG school and playing soccer with them. After a couple of hours of play, we sat down and shared the word of God. Kiara shared her story today, and what a beautiful story it was. This specific moment is so powerful. Every individual has a different story and a different background, however, what is most powerful is that we are all loved equally by the Lord. Through this trip, I have learned that through the hardest times, good times, “okay” times, God is always there and his love never fades. Although myself and my other teammates do not speak the same language as fellow Guatemalan people, we all come together and support each other. Later today, we competed small sided and played a full-field game with another team from Guatemala known as Muniguate and heard Kylee’s beautifully unique story post-game. The most special aspect of playing these women, is that women support women. Tonight we all came together to hold a banquet alongside the Guatemalan teams we competed with. Myself and my teammates wanted to show the way we compete with one another back in the States to each team we played. The game of soccer has brought us all together through the glory of God and that is so fulfilling.

As sad as I am to leave this beautiful city, I walk away with a deeper love for the Lord and a deeper love for the people of this city. The Guatemalan children will forever hold a special place in my heart. I’m already counting down the days until I come back. As I reflect on this opportunity, I am filled with joy and love of the people i’ve met, and how we have all been brought together as ONE, through the love of God. As well, I have met some unforgettable people through Baylor Soccer and cannot wait to compete with them in the Fall.
